How To Choose A Good Acai Berry Juice

After many studies on the benefits of Acai berry juice, it is now considered to be a super antioxidant that improves one’s overall health. But many companies offer different blends of acai drinks mixed with other less potent juices, making it tough to tell which ones are of high quality.

A lot of juice drink manufacturers produce watered down natural juice drinks and may mix the more expensive acai berry juice with cheaper grape juice or other fillers. The result is a drink that gives you practically no benefits from the real acai juice.

Unfortunately, too many companies also sell an acai drink that often is filled with 50% magnesium stearate, multidextrin, soy lecithin and similar additives as well.

Here are several things to look for in a high quality acai berry drink:

Is It USDA Organic Certified Acai?

This certification ensures that a product’s production, processing, and certification match the national organic standards. If you buy non-organic acai products, they may have toxins and pesticides, so it’s important to read the label carefully before you buy it.

Does It Contain Sugar?

If there is sugar added, including the product in your diet may end up doing you more harm then good. Sugar is the primary cause of inflammation, and acai is an anti-inflammatory berry. The acai berry is high in antioxidants and has been connected with battling cancer. Since sugar feeds cancer, this is counter productive.

Are There Preservatives Added?

It is very important that the acai berry drink you are purchasing has zero preservatives. Sometimes the beneficial nutrients are literally canceled by so many preservatives in a product.

What Is The ORAC Level

ORAC levels (oxygen radical absorbency capacity) is a way to measure the antioxidant capacities in various foods. High quality acai juice has at least 3000 ORAC for each one-ounce serving. If it isn’t on the label, chances are it’s because it is well under the 3000 ORAC level.

Is It In A Glass Container?

In addition, acai juice placed in plastic containers is vulnerable to plastic leeching. Plastic packed juices are also cooked to high temperatures to destroy bacteria and micros. The highest quality acai juice is processed in glass bottles that are not filtered or clarified.
