For most people, they’re first experience with the whole idea of female bodybuilding consists of seeing pictures of a women who doesn’t really look like a women. Her arms are bulging, her shoulders are huge and her legs massive. Sure, she has a narrow waist but that’s about the only feminine attribute she has. Don’t let that idea fool you, most female bodybuilders do not look like that. In fact, most, if not all, of the women you see who look like this, are probably on some unnatural performance enhancing drug.
So, does this mean you should avoid building muscle? No! In fact, building muscle is one of the smartest things you can do if you’re looking at getting in and STAYING in shape. Muscles not only add in firmness and shape to your body, they help raise your metabolism. As you know, raising your metabolism will increase the amount of calories your body will burn without you doing a lick of exercise. This is a very good thing and something most women will overlook.
Another attribute to building muscles naturally and properly is the ability to engage in some real body sculpting. Just like clay sculptor, getting the shape you want isn’t only about taking off the excess, it’s about adding a bit more in the right places. This is what will give you a figure you can be extremely proud of and happy to have. If you just lose weight you’re going to end up being a thing out-of-shape person. But, add in some muscle and you will not only look great, you’ll feel great.
Grab a set of weights and engage in some resistance training at a level that stretches you but doesn’t tear you down. Use a bit lighter weight than you think you’re capable of lifting and do a few more reps than you thought you could. Lighter weights and higher reps will help you build strength and not bulk. Try it for 30 days and see if the results are pleasing. I’m willing to be they are.
